2:00PM Planetarium Film: Phantom of the Universe
Phantom of the Universe, narrated by Tilda Swinton, is an an exciting exploration of dark matter, from the Big Bang to its anticipated discovery at the Large Hadron Collider. The film will reveal the first hints of its existence, describing the astral choreography in the Andromeda galaxy, all while learning how scientists around the world are collaborating to track down the constituents of dark matter.
3:00PM Feature Talk: Looking Out: How We Know the Universe Has a History
For most of history, the stars seemed fixed and unchanging, but we now know the universe is expanding and evolving over its 13.8-billion-year history. This talk explores how astronomers came to study the universe as a whole, tracing its evolution from a hot, dense beginning to the stars, galaxies, and planets we see today. We'll examine the evidence that reveals the universe's past and what it may tell us about its future.
